Call of Duty: World At War For Wii Review + Cheat Codes

Call of Duty: World at War re-creates history while making some of is own. Built using the same engine that delivered jaw-dropping visuals in COD: Modern Warfare, World at War sends you to new battlefronts, including the Pacific Theater, where you’ll fight as American Marines or Russian infantry. Battle on multiple fronts against ruthless new enemies, some never-before-seen in a COD game. Cinematic visuals are here, along with improved squad-based multiplayer. But World at War truly makes its mark with the addition of co-op play for the first time in Call of Duty history. Coordinate two-player assaults on local split-screens.

Call of Duty has been developed thinking of the potential of the Nintendo console, being better than the thrid installment of the franchise. The atmosphere is amazing with brilliant audiovisual components. It’s a great experience in the campaign mode but the multiplayer is limited, but it’s the best World War II shooter for Wii.

Unfortunately, co-op multiplayer and the Zombie Mode didn’t make the cut. World At War on the Wii ends up a distant second to the PS3 and 360 versions, but it’s still a fun shooter.

Call of Duty: World at War is a first-person shooter and the latest installment in the Call of Duty video game series for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 2, DS, and PC. Moving back from the modern setting of CoD4, World at War is set in the Pacific theater and Eastern front of World War II. The violence is off the charts: this is a vision of World War II you’ve never seen before! Gone are gritty gray colors and sanitized violence. In its place are vibrant hues, gushing gore, and intense language. World at War will also expand upon Call of Duty 4’s award-winning online multiplayer with new modes, drivable vehicles, and a host of lethal WWII-era weapons (including a flamethrower, the Tommy gun, and the world’s first true assault rifle).

Activision currently hold the top spot for best selling third party Wii titles and this is a reason why. Despite the limitations of the Wii that some developers are treating like a reason to slap together inferior ports (I’m looking at you EA), Activision is setting a new bar for developers by trying their best to give the Wii a game that can stand up to the HD counterparts.

First of all, Call of Duty: World at War will support use of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for online death matches. According to the source, the Wii version will feature the same maps, vehicles, and modes as the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. A new 2-player mode called “Squad Mate Mode”, lets 2 players co-operate by adding another set of cross-hairs to the screen, allowing 2 players to shoot.

Another somewhat exciting detail is that the same engine for the HD editions will be used on the Wii version to, which means the game will look very pretty. Activision has also revealed that due to some technical constraints for the Wii in terms of shading effects, they have needed to tinker with the hardware to get the game to look just right on the Wii, which shows they are dedicated to making the Wii version look as good as possible. In addition, explosions and other special effects are said to look identical on all versions of the game without any frame rate drops.

After getting passed over by 2007’s stellar Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Wii owners get their first shot at the revitalized series with Call of Duty: World at War. Though World at War treads the familiar ground of World War II, the detailed, realistic locations and dramatic story elements make this trip to the past feel fresh. The remote and Nunchuk perform admirably in combat, despite a few missteps, and the well-tuned weapons make firefights intense and satisfying. Add in the engaging multiplayer system that made Modern Warfare a smash hit, and you’ve got one of the best shooters available for the Wii.

There are a number of great components in Call of Duty: World at War, but none of them would work without the fully capable control scheme. You move with the analog stick and aim by pointing the remote. As a handy aid to newcomers and veterans alike, there are plenty of options to tweak various sensitivities and movement speeds. In the default control scheme, you pull the B trigger to fire and use the Z button to look down your sights, which is a crucially important ability, especially in multiplayer. The C button toggles your stance, and the A button lets you sprint or, when stationary or strafing, lock the camera for steadier aiming. There are a number of slightly tweaked alternate control schemes, including a Wii Zapper mode that, if you can endure the frequent twisting it requires, is actually pretty fun.

The default controls feel balanced and well-mapped, but there are a few hang-ups. The fast and deadly melee attack is performed by shaking the Wii Remote or hitting down on the D pad. Unfortunately, shaking will shift your aim abruptly, often causing you to miss your target. The D pad is the better option, but melee attacks will still tend to go astray more often than they should. The D pad is also used for switching weapons, so resting your thumb in the A-button/D-pad area is generally advisable. Unfortunately, grenades are mapped to the + button, and shifting your thumb halfway down the remote can be awkward. It’s a minor inconvenience, though, and all things considered, World at War’s control scheme is well-suited for the rigors of war.

The game itself is okay. I thought it was going to be worse, Thats why I gave it the score I did. Honesty though, I didn’t pay too much attention to the single-player story. What I love most about this game, is Nazi Zombies. There’s something so satisfying about killing massive amounts of nazi zombies, Unlocking doors, and buying random weapons. It’s really addicting and I would rather do nothing else than just sit and play nazi zombies for an hour. So, If you don’t want to buy this game for the single player, certainly get it because of the nazi zombies feature.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare reinvigorated a series that some were claiming was starting to get stale. Gamers were subsequently shocked when Activision announced that the next entry, Call of Duty: World at War, would be going back to World War II. But it looks like those fears were unfounded. Building on Infinity Ward’s masterpiece, with World at War, Treyarch delivers a stunning, epic, and chaotic experience that may very well be the best Call of Duty yet. Considering that Modern Warfare was considered one of the best games of the current generation, that’s quite a statement. The game certainly shines on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but the Wii effort is a stellar game in its own right.

World at War focuses on the Pacific and Russian fronts of World War II compared to the more standard German front commonly found in WWII games. You’ll experience first-hand the sometimes horrific nature of the Japanese offense, and veracity with which the Russian army fought at Stalingrad. The enemies in the game will do whatever it takes to take you down. This means that they’ll attempt to swarm you around corners by hiding in bushes, charge at you without regard for your life or theirs, and play dead to set up an ambush. Epic (and scripted) gunfights have been a stable of the series since its inception but World at War ratchets up the intensity considerably. Treyarch did a great job of making the game as fun and intense as its other counterparts, despite the relative lack of hardware strength on the Wii.

The games core singleplayer experience, which features the same levels and story as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, clocks in at around five hours–about the same length as Modern Warfare’s campaign. The campaign does an amazing job of delivering a varied experience where you’ll not only take on enemies in firefights, but also go on a sniper mission or man an aircraft. The story is impressively told, though it doesn’t have the twists we found in the last Call of Duty game, largely because the outcome of World War II is largely known. However, the game does a good job of capturing the wars major battles.

Shoot Perfect Gun makes it easy to be a shooting superstar. With a traditional, one-handed, pistol-like grip, Perfect Shot will really get you into the action. It features an aiming sight that increases accuracy and a tactile trigger that activates the “B” button.

Shoot Perfect Gun also has an accessory pass-through port for use with other attachments. Enhance your gaming fun and stay sharp through every challenge.

Building on the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War immerses players into the most gritty and chaotic WWII combat ever experienced. Players band together to survive the most harrowing and climactic battles of WWII that led to the demise of the Axis powers on the European and Pacific fronts. With the World at War, Activision’s veteran military first-person shooter series heeds a call to return to its WWII roots. Built on the Call of Duty 4 game engine, World at War aims to bring Modern Warfare’s state-of-the-art graphics, interactive battlefield environments, unflinching “M”-rated presentation, and sophisticated online multiplayer options back to the World War II setting in which the series earned its stripes. As (at least) the fourth original console and home computer Call of Duty title set during World War II, World at War offers an expanded selection of era-authentic infantry and vehicle weapons, as well as the tactics that go with them, such as using flamethrowers to burn away camouflaging cover and expose hidden enemies. For the first time in the franchise, co-operative multiplayer gaming is strongly supported, with team-up options for two players to play through the main campaign in split-screen mode, or for as many as four to play together online. The Wii edition of the game features special support for the Zapper gunstock accessory.

Call of Duty: World at War is set in the Pacific Theater and in Europe, near the end of the war. In the single-player campaigns, players take the role of a United States Marine or a Russian infantry soldier, and face an onslaught of deadly new techniques, including brutal guerrilla warfare and kamikaze attacks. In online multiplayer games, an increased emphasis on squad tactics in chaotic, bombed-out environments makes coordinated teamwork the deadliest weapon of all.

Building on the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War thrusts players into the ruthless and gritty chaos of WWII combat like never before and challenges them to band together to survive the most harrowing and climactic battles in both the European and Pacific theaters. The title re-defines WWII games by offering an uncensored experience with unique enemies, jaw-dropping fire power like the flamethrower, and combat variety, including Kamikaze fighters, ambush attacks, Banzai charges and cunning tactics, as well as explosive on-screen action through all new cooperative gameplay.

Multiplayer: Call of Duty: World at War will support intense, online multiplayer action using the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine. Bringing multiplayer to the Wii for the first time in the Call of Duty franchise, players will be able battle it out in a variety of game types, plus upgrade and customise characters by using perks and completing challenges.

Squadmate: This cooperative mode lets players team up to play alongside friends and family. At any moment, a second Wii Remote can be activated, giving the second player their own aiming crosshair to provide cover and added firepower while fighting alongside their Squadmate.

  • Extra ammunition
Use the following trick if run out or are running low on ammunition on any mission in Solo mode on any difficulty. Find a non-essential teammate (someone not involved in the story line). Walk up to him, and aim the reticule next to his head or torso. Knife the air, and as you do so move slightly towards them so that the reticule is over them. If done correctly, he should die and drop his weapon. Non-essential teammates will get replaced when you walk into a battle. If the teammate does not die but keeps getting back up, they are essential to the story (for example, Sgt. Roebuck and Sgt. Rezenov).
