The Mythology Behind The Movie Clash Of The Titans 2010
Clash of the Titans is a remake of the film using the same name released in the year 1981. In the fantasy genre, it is a loose interpretation of the myth Perseus from the ancient Greeks. The original release date was March 26th, 2010 but since they wanted 3-D graphics the date was pushed back just a bit to April 2nd, 2010. The film is directed by noteworthy Louis Leterrier and stars Sam Worthington who promise to bring a phenomenal film for your viewing pleasure whether you watch movies online or hit it up at the big screen for the 3-D effects.
The myth is centered during the times of the ancient Greeks. In the common struggle to gain power friends and enemies are pitted against one another. Kings take on gods while war is being ravaged by common men. However, the battle goes further than what is on the ground. The gods have their own war waged between them which could lead to the end of the world itself.
The film focuses on the main character Perseus who is played by Sam Worthington. He is raised as a common man but was born as a god and is notably the son of Zeus, the leader of the gods. He must save his entire family from the wrath of Hades who is portrayed by Ralph Fiennes who rules the underworld. Perseus considers the fact that he has nothing to lose and he volunteers himself to take on Hades before Hades is given the chance to gain power from Liam Neeson who played the almighty god Zeus. Hades intends to unleash his wrath and cause hell on Earth if he happens to gain the power and the throne. Perseus leads an expedition to journey to strange and dangerous worlds. With the odds stacked up against him, Perseus must face beasts and demons he has never seen before and embrace that he has powers beyond what a man has. He must realize that his destiny is in his own hands before it is too late.
The remake of this movie was decided and began 8 years ago in the year 2002 when producer Adam Schroeder took on the project along with writers Travis Wright and John Glenn. The project was modified many times before its final adaptation was confirmed and set to begin filming, which has no wrapped up with the release of April 2nd.
Scenes from the movie where filmed in a variety of settings and locations including London, Wales, and the Canary Islands and some of the scenery was taken from aerial photographs of both Ethiopia and Iceland.
The producers hope to bank on the success of the original and are even releasing a Video Game based on the film for both the playstation 3 and XBOX 360 consoles where players are able to play Perseus to take on his mission just like he does in the film itself.
With the intense story line, amazing acting, and the newly introduced 3-D aspect the film promises to be an excellent remake with high expectations and hopes from critics. Let's hope that it does not disappoint in any area. You can be one of the ones who watch movies online and wait but if you want to experience the 3-D effects, see it in theaters.
