Keeping Straps Tight With Stainless Steel Wing Seals
According to the law of physics, anything moving in one direction will keep going unless stopped by something else. This is the reason why it is very difficult for cars to make a sudden stop. It is also why things can fall off the truck when the truck suddenly swerves or stops; if the truck stops or changes direction, its cargo will keep moving forward. Preventing cargo from moving is needed in order to prevent damages and injuries that might occur during transportation.
To keep cargo from moving around, one of the best methods you can use is by strapping them down. Strapping, also commonly known as banding, can protect the cargo by strengthening the cargo containers. This method of cargo securing is widely used in the construction industry to keep construction material and heavy equipment safe during transport and delivery. In fact, most people from industries that require lifting of heavy equipment keep straps available just in case.
Cargo straps or strapping are actually strips of durable material, specifically designed to absorb tension exerted by the cargo's sheer weight. Straps can be made of durable plastic, metal, or even fabric. Using the tensioner, a tool used to tighten the straps around cargo, make sure that there are no loose straps. The straps are held in place together by using strapping seals.
Strapping seals are designed to stop the straps from losing tension. If the tension is lost, the straps will come loose and the cargo will not be secured anymore. There are various kinds of seals to choose from based on style and material, such as a stainless steel wing seal.
Stainless steel wing seals are known for their durability. They are strong enough to hold together steel strapping used on very heavy loads, resisting tension levels even a series of plastic seals won't be able to take. However, unlike other stainless steel strapping seals, this kind of strapping seal can be sealed using a mallet or a hammer.
Stainless steel wing seals can also be used to hold steel straps in conditions where most steel can't. Since stainless steel does not rust easily, most companies that require transportation of cargo in humid areas or near the see prefer stainless steel straps and seals over ordinary metal strapping equipment.
