The Amazing New Sony Ericsson Xperia Play-The Playstation Comes To Android
The launch of the handset gaming fans have been waiting for is finally here. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is the phone that merges all the power and functionality you expect from a modern smartphone with the gaming prowess of the Sony Playstation brand, and thus has been one of the most hyped and eagerly awaited release of he past few years.
Upon looking at the phone, perhaps the most pleasing aspect is that even without the superb games facilities, this is undoubtedly a real cracker of a smartphone, packed full of the very latest technology with some very modern styling thrown into the equation as well. Any good smartphone need to be as adept at accessing the internet as it is at taking calls, and the Xperia Play does not disappoint in this instance. A great array of web connectivity options make this handset a joy to surf the web with whether you are on the move or at home. The in built browser offers full HTML support as well as incorporating Flash facilities, thus to avoid any iPhone esque problems with viewing certain material. Thanks to the 3G connectivity, whilst you are on the move you can achieve greet speed, and this is improved on when you are in range of a WiFi network thanks to the phones Wireless LAN capabilities, with all three speeds accommodated by the phone. Talking of connectivity a little closer to home, the Xperia Play can connect wirelessly to products thanks to bluetooth, or using cable to a PC via the micro USB port or even to an HD compatible television thanks to a mini HDMI socket.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is a superb portable gaming machine. Where as on traditional consoles you would purchase a game on a disc or cartridge, on this phone any games you need are downloaded online, and a shortcut to that game placed on your homescreen, rather similar to an icon appearing on a desktop for a downloaded program. When it comes to playing your material, the phones large 4 inch screen is a great size, any smaller may have impaired the experience, whilst larger may have detracted from the compactness of the chassis. Holding the phone horizontally and sliding the screen upwards reveals the control panel, which feels natural to use, especially for anybody used to a Playstation 2 or 3 controller. Graphics are displayed superbly thanks to an extremely high resolution of 480 x 854 and the capacitive touch display also features a proximity sensor and essential accelerometer chip.
Sony Ericsson have released pretty much the perfect handset with the Xperia Play, a device with widespread appeal, great specification and eye catching design. It is now available on UK networks including Vodafone.
