When the game series began, it was easy to fulfill your dream to become a band member. By using a virtual guitar you followed rock tunes to gain the ultimate goal which was to perform on the largest stage with an even larger venue. It required dexterity to master the guitar in& order to play the most difficult tunes.

The biggest difference is in the music which is not limited to rock but expands to favor pop, pop rock and rock and roll. This musical expansion makes the game more family friendly. You can spend quality time with your kids without concern about inappropriate content.
Band Hero like Guitar Hero has its own track for those preferring to be creative. With the "Create Your Own Track" mode you have the opportunity to play your own songs with your member Band. You can have a wider selection of games to play by importing tracks from previous Hero games.
A comparison of Xbox Band Hero versus Guitar Hero can be summed up as follows: If you are a hard core guitar player and an avid fan of music, Than the Guitar Hero game is for you. However if you like other instrumental more mellow music and enjoy playing with friends and family than you would prefer the Band Hero game.
However, if you enjoy all music than you may want to have both games as they both offer diverse challenges.
