2011 Super Bowl Odds: Packers Props
With the NFC demolishing the AFC in the NFL All-Star game that can only mean one thing, Super Bowl XLV is only a week away and many sportsbooks in Vegas have begun to list numerous prop bets. The 2011 Super Bowl will be held at the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas on February 6th with the broadcast on FOX scheduled to start at 6:00pm EST. The Packers are -2.5 betting favorites to win Super Bowl XLV odds but besides just taking the point spread, let's take a look at some of the Packers team prop bets also available.
How do you make a Super Bowl prop bet do you say? For all the Super Bowl prop bets you can simply base everything on wagering $100. For example; Green Bay finished the season with 46-touchdowns and offer great betting value if they can score in every quarter with Vegas sportsbooks favoring the NO -260 while the YES would return +200. That means if you wager on the Packers to score in each quarter of Super Bowl XLV and they do just that, you would get your $100 back plus an additional $200. Got it? Let's begin... The Packers scored 14-points in the first half of their Conference victory over the Chicago Bears but only 7-points in the second half.
Super Bowl props for Green Bay think that trend will continue for the big game favoring the 1st half (+1/2) -135 to be when the Packers score the most points vs the 2nd half (-1/2) +105 which includes overtime. It seems silly to think that the Packers won't score in both the first two quarters but sportsbooks are offering it as a prop bet for Super Bowl XLV with YES or NO (-115). Another interest wager that could return some value is whether or not the Packers will convert a 4th down. Taking the YES in Packers team prop bets would return +160 while the NO is favored at -200. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw only 11-interceptions for the season so it makes sense that bookmakers would favor the NO (-170) vs the YES (+140) on whether an interception will be thrown by the Packers in the first half or not.
Rodgers will also have plenty of targets to throw to with Greg Jennings, James Jones and Donald Driver but Super Bowl prop bets want to know if he will throw to the likes of Jordy Nelson or Brandon Jackson as well. The total number of Packers to have a pass reception in the 2011 Super Bowl has been set at 7.5 UNDER (-145) while the OVER would return +115. The Packers had eight different personnel rush the ball this season so Super Bowl XLV prop bets have the total number of players to have a rushing attempt in the game at 4 OVER (-200) while the UNDER would return +160.
