Not really much to say on the same console ... It's the same old PS2 into a smaller package. The fact that this system is still strong after 10 years speaks for itself. 

What can I say, though, is that bang for the buck current PS2 Slim can not be overcome in value, especially considering that this is a new factory system. The true value lies not in the console, as a large library of games available for it, and the fact that today most of these games are dirt cheap. 

Come this way, the difference in costs between the PS2 and PS3, a little creative eBaying craigslist / game stores may be used to build an impressive collection of decent games for the same amount of money. To the reader an idea of how games are cheap, which has recently dropped $ 200 within a radius of almost 70 games sent to my door, mostly old, but still very playable titles like Metal Gear Solid Collection Onimusha, Devil may Cry, GT3, and the fear that it is probably a better deal there. If this is not enough, still occasionally NEW issue for this system, and very few current titles will support 480p resolution, the importance of this platform will not disappear so quickly! 

Bottom line is this ... Yes, the PS2 is an older platform and shows its age in many ways. This is still strong, with almost unlimited source of cheap sets available I honestly do not believe a player budget or retro is common to find a better value for money.

PS2 is still a great system to own! PS3 does not play PS2 games..its a must

This system is a must have! This of all the games released for the PS2. These games can be had now at 30% their original price and many of them are still a wonder to see and play. The system may be 10 years old, but it carries its weight even now. We have two of them in our house. One is hooked up to the big screen TV (Thats right ...it looks great on the HD TV.) and one in my office. The kids play the PS2 more that the Wii and more than the PS3 (Both of which are connected to the big screen) Why?, Well some smart guy once said "Its all about the games." and that is very true, but it is also about balance. PS2 was easier and more cost effective to produce games for, and thus has a multitude of games developed for it. It also has a buit in DVD player. The only thing that the PS2 is lacking is online network (Next Gen concept) that was not around when the PS2 was developed...so this means no Achievements or Trophies to brag about with your friends. Still, you get a grewat gaming system for a fraction of the current generation systems, with an enormous game library! You just can't go wrong! I love my PS2 
P.S Did I mention that is plays PS1 games as well?

If you are low on cash and want a great gaming system with thousands of awesome and cheap games, then grab a ps2 slim. I just got it and it is really cool. Some of the later made games like dragon ballz budokai tenkaichi 3 made in 2007 look just as good as new ps3 games. This is still an awesome product and it looks sleek as hell in any Entertainment System. If you cant afford a next gen system then pick this puppy up and you will not regret it.

I can't believe the PS2 is still around. Where is the Game Cube,where is the XBOX, I'll tell you there both are dead and in the water thats where they are. I have resurected my PS2 Slim from its box. Because thanks to SFIV (soon to be owning SSFIV in two days). It has renewed my love for fighting games and in particular 2-D fighting games. With game like Street Fighter Anniversary collection, Alpha anthology, Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus, Arcana Heart,and King of Fighters 98 Ultimate match to name a few. It is an exellent console if you love fighting games. Guilty Gear and KOF 98 where released last year. They are still making good fighting games for this thing. Yes they are updated to titles that already existed. But,they are the best ones money can buy, for a good price at that. I have a PS3, and Wii. Lovem to death, but this thing has become my ultimat fighting game machine. If your into fighting games seriously give this a look. Of course it has a lot of other strong titles as well. There are so many reasons to buy a ps2,love rpg's look no further so many to choose from,ico,shadow of the collous,rouge galaxy and the disgaea series to name a few. 

Ratchet,sly and jack all got their start here,like katimari it started here as well. 

I'm glad stuff continues to arrive even if it has begun to trickle out. 

Sony has done right by playstation gamers keeping their platforms around long after 
the next box was announced and longer even after it arrived. 

Even if more collections arrive on ps3 with HD remasters and trophy support like gow 1 and 2 have most modern series really came into their own on ps2 ,ah memory's I wish good jrpg's would keep coming out with the japanese and english subs of course but everything's fable and dragon age-long live the jrpg.

I bought my PS2 console in 2006 and even when I'm a 30 year old dude, I still enjoy playing my favourite games up to now. I didn't go for the PS3 'cause I think I wouldn't need more than my current console. I own games like Gran Turismo 4, Ace Combat 5, Mortal Kombat, Star Wars II and II, etc. so the variety is there and I'm thinking seriously on buying the God of War series. Anyway, I know people of my age might be reading this so PS2 is a great, competitive and pretty cheap alternative to have a Video Game at home. Of course, this is not for hard fans of video games or people addicted to them.

Conforming To Standards Of Propriety, Go PS2, Go

The remorse I felt was rather challenging instead of justifying the durability of the PS2 Game Console. I will not provide a thorough conspectus review for the PS2, however, there are no further doubts in my mind that Sony is here to stay when it comes to Video Game. In terms of durability, this system is not meager and lasted for a solid 13 years before it finally succumb due to lack of proper maintanance. If only I was able to purchase a decent dvd cleaner, therefore I probably extend the life of my original and heavy PS2. I purchased the new version of Sony PS2, slimmer in design along with Dual Shock Controller and attractive, silver aesthetic. Immediately, I noticed that the new version is very quiet without the annoying, humming noise coming from the original thick, bulky, tank like built of the PS2. The latter days of my old PS2 was amazing with mesmerizing graphics, but the slim version exudes or display the same performance in a lesser price. While moving the new slim PS2 across my room, it accidentally fell to a solid ground and the full contact between the plastic console and the hard floor initiate electrical impulses to my neurons and signals my muscle fibers to contract. In short, " Very Nervous". Indeed, I was petrified and even more surprised when I played my Resident Evil 4 disc and worked without any glitch or problems. Yes, the remorse was challenging, but it eradicated all my doubts that the new Slim version is fragile and unworthy. This is a durable game console if you will ask me. Final word, " buy the new Slim version" before it's gone. The new version is no longer made in Japan. It's assemble in China with the same components originally created in Japan. When I was in the Philippines, most of the newly made video games were assembled in Japan, but it make no difference at all. The slim version although assembled in China demonstrated the same durability. This product is a home run for Amazon. Amazon is the best.
