Is a floyd rose system good for Drop tunings?
I was going to get an ESP guitar equipped with a Floyd Rose system. I'm usually using all drop tunings, mostly Drop D and Drop C. I've been reading around that a floyd rose isn't good for drop tunings, is that really true?
Yes Floyd Rose guitars are good for dropped tuning, you just have to block your bridge so it can't move up or down. Just put some wood behind the bridge, or you can use some dice like I did, and if you want to block the front of the bridge just fill the space in with some picks. It's worth it to have a Floyd Rose because you can re use your strings when they break.
