What is wrong with my metal DDR mat?
I have a metal dance dance revolution mat for the Original Xbox. I noticed that the up arrow wasn't responding anymore, so I took it apart. When I take the panel off of the sensor and tap the sensor, it reacts fine, but when I put the panel on, it hardly ever registers my steps. What could be wrong?
This problem usually originates in the down arrow, but basically, there are two explanations I have for you: (1) the sensor must bend whenever the panel is on, and therefore isn't lined up with the panel when you tap it, so try adjusting the direction of the panel (so it rests directly on top of sensor). Or (2) the sensor is weaker than it should be, and the insulation of the panel doesn't allow the sensor to pick up any pressure. I recommend buying a new mat, or searching for a second opinion.
The metal mats however can be looked at by game stores and (1) you could get it fixed or (2) your money back.
