How can I view games and films in hd on an xbox 360 elite?

on my xbox elite it has i can play hd games and watch hd films. for this i need to connect an hdmi cable to my tv from my xbox. all my friends xboxs came with one of these cables but mine didnt. does it automatically play in hd on an elite? My tv is hd ready i just dont know how to get it on.

You do not need an HDMI cable for the 360 to get 1080p. Connect your component cable into the system and television then go to the system setting on your system. There you go to the video settings and you can select 1080p.
