What is the best way to connect my surround sound and cable box to my HDTV?
I have a Sony KDL-46Z4100 HDTV and Sony DAV-HDX576WF Surround Sound. I also have a HDTV cable box. I want to connect all of the above and additionally listen to the TV through the surround sound. What's the best way to do this? How many HDMI cables do I need? What other cables do I need?

This should be covered in the product manual.
Anything you want surround sound out of must be run through the receiver. So if you have a cable box, connect it to the receiver with the best possible connections, HDMI being ideal but optical or coax will work too. Then send the video out from the receiver to the TV either via HDMI from the receiver or else via HDMI or component from the cable box.
